Punished for Being Good? - Chapter 20
Good actions don't always appear to be good. What do you think Mr. Dobbins thought of Tom? Do you think he'd be surprised to learn how "noble" Tom had acted? Why? Think of a time when you've done something that you thought was helping out another person, but you got in trouble for it or a time when you've done something you thought was good, but you still got in trouble? Tell about your situation and how it is similar or different to Tom's in Chapter 20.

I think he thought he was noble but also a fool. One time i was a part of something and I was apart of it and i thought it was wrong but i told on the person thinking I would not get in trouble to but i got more punishment then the other person

ReplyDeleteWell I think that Mr.Dobbins would be supprised if he knew what Tom did and yes I did have a situation that I thought was good but I got in to deep trouble with it. Well I was just a little girl when I did it but I was going over to a friends house for her birthday party and well they were going to the thing that they have after the forth of July parade and well with out telling my mom I went over there and well then my sister was coming over to get me for lunch and well she cout me there dancing and she said Heather you are in deep trouble and well that was the day I was grounded for a hole week and well she said if you would have asked I could have gone with you and you would not b e in this kind of trouble and that was when I was really immature and I regret forever doing it.
ReplyDeleteMr.Dobbins thinks Tom is the worst possible student he can have. He would be shocked that Tom was noble and probably wouldn't believe his ears but maybe he would.

ReplyDeleteI think Mr. Dobbins thought that Tom was a big trouble maker. He couldn't believe it at all if he found out Tom was noble. Sometimes I try to help out my friends with their school work. I don't give them the answers or anything I just help them with what they need. Some of the times when I do that, I would probably get in trouble by the teacher. I still thought I was doing the right thing to try and help out my friend.

Doblins wouldn't be surprised because guys do that for girls all the time we jump in and rescue them it's what us men do! yes i once gave my friend the answers to a test so he could go make a sunday ice cream and he said he would share it because i had a project to finish so i couldn't make one so i gave him answers and he gave me half

I think mr.dobbins was not very surprised about what had done and what he had done in the past. He would be surprised to know that tom was noble because it is hard to imagine that tom is noble from all the things he did. Once my friend told me to tell someone a secret about something, i forgot what the secret was, but any way he told on me for telling him that and i was in 1st grade at the time.
ReplyDeleteI think that Mr.Doblins is a guy that just does not like kids so even if he finds out why Tom did it i don't think he would care. He would still think Tom is a bad kid.

ReplyDeleteI think Mr. dobbins thought he as very nobel but i think he also thought he was also a big fool. I think he thought that because it shows that tom really likes becky. One time i left the computer on for my dad and he got mad because that will make it boog down and go slow

ReplyDeleteI think Mr. Dobbins was being a huge trouble maker. He couldn't it at all when he found out Tom was being noble. Sometimes my friends say they need some help with some homework. So I try to do the best I can without giving them the answers. Then the teacher tells me that they can do it by them selfs, and that they don't need my help. After the teacher tells me that, I still think I was doing the right thing by doing it.
ReplyDeleteI think that Mr. Dobbins thinks that Tom is a trouble maker. I think that Mr. Dobbins was shocked. I try to help my friends constantly with three work so that they don't get in trouble. I never give answers, but I sometimes get in trouble. I usually don't get anything back for it except knowing that they won't get in trouble.
ReplyDeleteHe probably thought that Tom is a bad boy and he will always be one. Yes because he thinks he's bad and he only cares about himself so he would probably never do that. I was helping a friend with his worksheet and the teacher thought I was cheating.
ReplyDeleteI think MR. Dobbins thinks that Tom is very immature and a is a trouble maker. This one time I asked my friends to pick up my pencil for me during a test, and the teacher heard me and so the teacher thought I was asking for answers. And talking.

ReplyDeleteI THOUGHT MR. DOBBINS WAS NOT PLEASED WITH TOM. WHY? BECAUSE TOM IS ALWAYS MISBEHAVING AND NOT LISTENING. PLUS, HE'S ALWAYS GETTING SWITCHED BY MR. DOBBINS. TOM ONLY DOES IT SO BECKY WILL LIKE TOM AGAIN. I NEVER GIVE OUT ANSWERS BECAUSE I WOULD FEEL AS IF I WERE GIVING ANSWERS TAHT I SHOULDN'T BE DOING THE WORK FOR.I ONLY HELP THE FRIENDS OR STUDENTS THAT ASK OR DON'T GET WHAT TO DO. I LIKE BEING A GOOD PERSON FOR THE SCHOOL.

ReplyDeleteI think it was silly for Tom too take blame for Becky AGAIN and she did not stick up for him for the spelling book and besides they are always fighting so he is just wasting him time.

ReplyDeleteTom tries to make up with Becky for how he acted in school. But she caid that she would NEVER speak to Tom again. Tom wished that she were a boy so he could beat her up. Becky found the key for the lock with the doctor book in it. So she unlocked it and took out the book and looked inside the book, and then Tom came inside and scared becky on accident and then she tore the page. The teacher came in and when there was free time he started to read and he seen that his book was torn. He wet around the room and by the time he got to Becky he asked her and she looked down and , then Tom stud up and lied and sayed it was him that did it. when it was Becky. Becky went up to Tom and said " Tom how could you be so noble!"

ReplyDeleteI think Tom lied;because he think Aunt Polly is mad at him. I think that Aunt Polly is for sure a good person to raise Tom, since she doesn't just let him get into trouble, she punishes him when he does something bad,even though he might rebel out of that too,I think that he would be surprised.

ReplyDeleteI think that Tom was very noble for standing up for Becky. IF Mr Dobbins would be very surprised to find out that Tom is actually noble. He would probably not believe Tom or whoever would tell him that. When Tom said that he ripped his book almost in half he was more mad at him than ever.

When I was about seven I tried to help a friend on the playground. I told what he did but blamed someone else and then he got in trouble. I also got in trouble for telling to. I was kind of like Tom's because he stood up for Becky. Then it's not like his because he gets whacked. It's also not like it because he took the blame for someone else when I just said "he did it" when he didn't.

ReplyDeleteI think that Mr. Dobbins suspected that it was one of the girls that did it. So he went around yelling at the girls to find out which one did it. When Tom spoke up and said he did it I think that Mr.Dobbins was surprised but yet he wasn't because Tom can be a troublemaker. The one who really did it was Becky and he was trying to get her to like him.
