    Page 57 - "If we can only get back to the old tannery before we break down!" panted Tom. Tannery is like a shelter place
    Page 58 - "It's so lonesome." Lonesome means out of place, no company.

  27. I think that Tom was very noble for standing up for Becky. IF Mr Dobbins would be very surprised to find out that Tom is actually noble. He would probably not believe Tom or whoever would tell him that. When Becky was about to get in trouble from ripping the book dobbins wouldn't believe that Tom actually didn't do it. When Tom said that he ripped his book almost in half he was more mad at him than ever. A thought shot like lighting through Tom's mind. he sprang up on his feet and said "I did it!"
